Job DescriptionThe Construction Cost Estimator is responsible for providing full estimating services including cost and schedule feedback to the project teamThe Estimator reports to the SrVice President of EstimatingThis position requires a forward-thinking, progressive mindset and the ability to grow with our company.
Responsibilities:
Provide comprehensive estimating services including cost and schedule feedback to the project team.
Recommend and solicit suppliers, and subcontractors, and propose materials for large commercial construction projects throughout the Northeast.
Offer value engineering based on project design and consultations with clients to meet project requirements and strategic goals.
Guide, make recommendations to, and collaborate with the project team to ensure client satisfaction and superior quality.
Strong conceptual estimating skills to develop estimates from concepts.
Prepare conceptual estimates, bids, and pricing analyses.
Produce, coordinate, and manage pricing of proposed projects.
Evaluate bids of subcontractors and suppliers for completeness, delivery time, and compliance with specifications.
Prepare Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) and lump sum pricingCoordinate with Design & Operations to ensure accurate pricing reflecting design and meeting project schedule, quality goals, and profitability.
Maintain an understanding of construction materials, pricing, and trendsInterface with client representatives and project team on price and material selections.
Ensure material and labor pricing estimates comply with local code regulations, specifications, schedule, budget, and quality standards.
Qualifications 5-10 years of estimating experience with Commercial, institutional, and/or industrial projects in the $10M-$50M range.
Understanding of design-build and construction management delivery systems preferred.
Knowledge of construction processes including estimating, bidding, purchasing, subcontractor negotiations, and design/construction technology.
Ability to conceptualize quantities and costs from plans and specs and understand means and methods.
Strong attention to detail.
PlanSwift or similar E-takeoff system, MS Suite, and Sage-Timberline preferred.
Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively, and problem-solve under diverse and changing conditions.
Active learning, listening, and critical thinking skills.
Associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
